Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
Southwest Alabama Association of Rural & Minority Women, Inc. was organized in 1989 as a charitable non-profit organization, for the purpose of providing women with the necessary technical assistance needed to enhance their leadership skills and economic potential, both culturally and socially, in order to allow them to become preservationist of our rural communities. The primary goal of the organization is to promote educational opportunities for rural and minority women and is not limited by race or gender. The organization serves as a liaison in assisting women living In rural communities in the areas of planning, development and organizational strategies, to enable them to cope with the factors that tend to inflict sterilization on the survival of their communities as a whole. The organization also encourages women to become advocates against barriers such as unfair economic tactics, poverty, illiteracy, crime and violence, teen pregnancy, alcohol and/or drug abuse and health problems of minority women and their families that tend to demise the survival of rural communities.
